How We’re Serving the PNW During the COVID-19 Pandemic

(Updated July 15, 2020) Mud Bay has served the Pacific Northwest community for over 30 years, and we’re honored so many of you have trusted us during the coronavirus pandemic for help feeding your dogs and cats. To keep our customers and Muddies safe, we’ve implemented these changes you’ll see in our stores.

Free Curbside Pickup and Delivery

Social distancing is simple with free curbside pickup: Just place an online order or call your local store, and your supplies will be delivered to your car when you arrive. You can also try free home delivery if you live in select areas of Portland or Thurston County, Washington. Or check all five ways to shop before deciding what will meet your needs.

Careful Social Distancing

We’re using floor decals and other signs to help everyone social distance. Don’t worry, we’ll be coaching all our customers through this new way of interacting. For example, we won’t be able to check you out until you place your purchases on the register counter and step back. Our many social distancing steps are an important part of the plan put into place to keep our Muddies—and our customers—safe during this time.

Raised Stocking Levels and Still Open Every Day

Our stores have plenty of food, treat and supply options for all dogs and cats. Although our hours have changed and may continue to change to meet safety and staffing needs—please check our store locations page for up-to-date information—we’re still open every day during the pandemic. Our mission is to contribute to your pet’s health and your happiness, and we’re committed to doing it for as long as we can.

Hand Sanitizer and Face Masks for All

Everyone who visits or works in our stores is wearing a face mask, and we can give you a disposable mask if you forgot yours. We’re also offering hand sanitizer at the door, so you can feel free to touch and test toys, beds and other supplies. Muddies are carefully limiting the number of customers in every store, so you don’t feel crowded while you shop.

Wellness Guidelines and Increased Paid Time Off

Mud Bay has increased paid time off and asked Muddies who feel unwell to stay home. Every Muddy is responsible for taking their temperature before they start work for the day, and Muddies take time off and self-quarantine when they are exposed to someone who may have COVID-19.

Thank You

We’d like to thank all the customers who have been patient and supportive as we’ve been working to respond to this unprecedented crisis. With your help, Mud Bay will continue to contribute to the health of dogs and cats and the happiness of their owners long after this crisis has passed.

A Letter from Lars Wulff and Marisa Wulff

We’ve been honored by the supportive comments and messages from many Mud Bay customers during this difficult time. Here’s a March 2020 letter from Mud Bay’s co-CEOs Lars Wulff and Marisa Wulff explaining how Mud Bay is responding to this global pandemic and what you can expect from our company.

We’re not veterinarians. Mud Bay staff are well educated, and our writing is well-researched, but neither the advice of a Mud Bay staff member nor reading Mud Bay’s written materials can substitute for visiting a veterinarian. We offer carefully chosen, natural solutions, but we believe that veterinary conditions should be diagnosed and treated by professionals.
